Who you’re working with
I’m Tara, and I've worked as a professional editor for more than 25 years. My financial editing has ranged from insurance and voluntary-benefits research to investment and capital-markets writing. A lot of that meant keeping a large body of writing consistent to one style, which is exactly what a finance document needs. Every project is edited by me, personally, from the first read to the last.

You’re the expert on your numbers and analysis, so everything I do starts from that. My job is to make your writing as clear and precise as possible. I’ll make sure your ideas and conclusions come through and land in your own voice. I don’t write your content or check your facts or your sources, because that’s yours to stand behind. If an edit might change your meaning, I’ll flag it and check with you first. Every edit is done by me, personally, so when your work comes back it still sounds like you, just clearer.

Questions people often ask
Can you keep our terminology and number formatting consistent, and edit to our house style?
Yes. If you have a house or brand style guide, send it over and I’ll edit to it, from defined terms and capitalization to how you present numbers, currencies, and units. If you don’t have one, I’ll keep these consistent across the document and note the choices I make, so your other materials can match. If you follow a standard like AP or Chicago, I’ll work to that instead.
Do you edit charts, tables, footnotes, and exhibits?
Yes, I edit the words in them, so your captions, headings, footnotes, and labels read clearly and match the wording in the main text. I don’t check the data itself or rework the figures, just the writing around them.
Do you check my figures, calculations, or data?
No. You’re the expert on your numbers, so I don’t verify your figures, check your calculations, or confirm your data. My work is the writing around them. If a number or term reads inconsistently, I’ll point it out for you to check, but the accuracy stays with you.
Is my work kept confidential, and can you sign an NDA?
Yes. Your work, and the fact that you’ve worked with me, stays private unless you tell me otherwise. I often handle sensitive and pre-release material, and I’m happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement if you or your firm need one.
